Why this site exists
Reliable, plain-English explanations of Chinese law are scarce. Most English-language material is either a marketing brochure, an outdated machine translation, or written by someone who has never appeared before a Chinese court. China Law Insights is an attempt to fix that: practical analysis of how PRC statutes are actually applied, written by someone who litigates them.
Editorial standards
- Every legal proposition cites the governing instrument by name, article number and date of entry into force.
- Where the law is genuinely unsettled, the article says so rather than offering false certainty.
- Case illustrations are anonymised: party names, court names and docket numbers are removed or altered.
- Articles are dated and revised when the underlying law changes; the revision date is shown at the top of each piece.
- No matter currently being handled by the author is discussed on this site.
What this site is not
China Law Insights is a publication, not a law firm. Nothing on this site is legal advice, no attorney–client relationship arises from reading it or from contacting the author through it, and no outcome is promised or implied. If you have a live legal problem, retain a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.
